Cuban Volleyball Team Prepares for VNL with Additions of Robertlandy Simón and Michael Sánchez

Robertlandy Simón and Michael Sánchez will join the Cuban volleyball team with a view to participating in the National League (VNL), in search of qualification for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.

According to colleague Raúl Rodríguez, the Cuban team will gather on April 15 for the VNL and for the team’s integration the performance of the players at the close of the leagues and in the days of preparation here in Havana will be essential.

Technical director Jesús Cruz assured the incorporation of Simón de El Ruso to the team “and was concerned about the health problems faced by Miguel David Gutiérrez and Jesús Herrera.”

Cuba will try to seek the Olympic ticket to Paris 2024 through the VLN and if we take into account that it is now positioned in eleventh place in the world ranking (236.96 points), it requires a very good performance in the competition to achieve a place for Paris.

“We have to try to get victories and points to climb the ranking at the beginning,” the coach expressed to Rodríguez.

In that starting week in the VLN, Cuban volleyball will clash against Japan, Germany, Brazil and Iran from May 21 to 26.
