The football players of Olympique Lyonnais won the first match of the French match with Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Champions League in spectacular fashion.

With ten minutes to go in regular time, PSG, the team of Dutch internationals Jackie Groenen and Lieke Martens, had a comfortable 0-2 lead. Yet things still went wrong for PSG.

Just over six minutes later there was a 3-2 score on the scoreboard, much to the delight of two other Dutch internationals. Damaris Egurrola (starter) and Daniëlle van de Donk (substitute) saw that the score did not change after that.

Katoto on shot

Striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto scored the goals for PSG shortly before and shortly after half-time, which allowed them to dream for a long time of their first victory over Lyon in a long time.

Both teams have already met three times earlier this season and Lyon remained undefeated in all those matches. The team of Egurrola and Van de Donk won the French Super Cup at the expense of PSG and also took home the points in the first competition match between the two teams. In February the league drew 1-1.

After Katoto’s goals, everything went Lyon’s way just before the end. Kadidiatou Diani opened the ball by putting the 1-2 on the board with a neat punt.

Melchie Dumonay hit the equalizer against the ropes with a rock-hard shot in the 85th minute and substitute Amel Majri shot the 3-2 into the far corner after a nice feint.

The two teams will face each other again in Paris next Sunday. The winner of the diptych will face FC Barcelona or Chelsea in the final. The Londoners won the first match 1-0 in Spain.
