Former world number one Garbiñe Muguruza declared her tennis career over on Saturday at the age of 30.
The Spaniard’s greatest successes were the major tournament victories at the French Open in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017 as well as winning the WTA Championships in 2021. In total, she was at the top of the world rankings for four weeks.
She played her last match at the start of the 2023 season.
