With still 270 minutes to play, everything remained unchanged (or almost). The 31st day of Excellencein fact, did not offer too many surprises: everything will be decided in the next few Sundays, both at the top and at the bottom.
It was not a happy afternoon, however, for the three Parma teams. So much regret, despite the point earned on a difficult pitch, for Salsomaggiore: at Correggese’s home a match full of upsets ends with “X”. Colorno, however, lost against Cittadella Vis Modena, ever closer to promotion. Same outcome for Fidentina, who emerges with red bones from the salvation match against Zola Predosa.
Too superior Citadel Vis Modena (77 points) for a Colorno (44) who, by now, no longer have anything to ask of their championship. The league leaders consolidated their lead in the standings thanks to the 1-3 victory at the “Comunale”, demonstrating once again their great offensive strength.
The protagonist of the first half is goalkeeper Cattabiani, who saves the yellow-greens on several occasions: in the 8th minute he makes a cat-like leap on Pezzani’s perfect header, well served from the right by Martinez; in the 16th minute he anticipates the former Malivojevic, intending to beat him with a lob; and again, the number one in the 20th minute thwarted an insidious cross that was going under the top corner. In the 27th minute Malivojevic tries again: his scissors kick ends, however, well wide. The Modenese attack, but Mister Galli’s boys find the goal: Carrasco wins a tackle with Aldrovandi and serves Piscicelli in the area who wastes it, the ball arrives Toma who beats the goalkeeper Narduzzo finding the goal again after 578 days. The start of the second half was a nightmare for the Colorno team: Carrasco squandered the 2-0 after 10 seconds, while in the 48th minute the league leaders’ strength came to the fore. Guidone, having started on the edge of offside, bends Cattabiani’s hands and makes it 1-1. However, the people from the Riviera go in search of a new advantage and in the 55th minute Lorenzani – well served by an excellent Carrasco – shoots powerfully, finding the response from Narduzzo. In the 67th minute, however, Citta completed the comeback: it was the former Malivojevic who beat Cattabiani with a precise left-footed shot, after having discarded three defenders. The “Comunale” can only applaud the pearl of Martinez, another old yellow-green acquaintance, in the 74th minute: the free kick from 30 meters ends under the top corner, a true masterpiece.
The match ends here, with Cittadella Vis Modena finding a victory that smacks of Serie D: just one point against Agazzanese will be enough to celebrate promotion two days early. Another excellent performance for Colorno, which was not enough to stop their former teammates (Bandaogo, Arati, Narduzzo, Malivojevic and Martinez), who were superior especially in the offensive phase.
Il Salsomaggiore (35) does not go beyond the 2-2 at the “Borelli” in Correggio against the Correggese (63): a great performance that bodes well for the final rush, but which is not enough to obtain a victory that Mr. Apolloni’s boys would have deserved.
The first 15 minutes are the prerogative of the thermal team, who come close to scoring on three occasions: Togola does well to serve Orlandi, first, and Ziliotti, then, but both conclusions end just wide; shortly after Fanti – who will be the main protagonist of the match – hits the post squarely. At the first defensive lapse, however, the hosts took the lead in the 13th minute: Solinas beat Mente and broke the deadlock. The first half ends like this, with Salso unable to find a way to score despite several dangerous actions. In the second half, just 5 minutes passed before the game returned to balance: Ziliotti and Brunani combined perfectly on the right, serving Fanti in the area who anticipated his direct opponent and made it 1-1. The Salsese striker is not satisfied and in the 68th minute creates an authentic masterpiece: he goes all over the field on the counterattack and from the edge of the area he unleashes a powerful right-footed shot that ends under the top corner, scoring his personal brace. In the 80th minute – when the gialloblù seemed to be in control – another cold shower arrives: defense deployed badly and Vaccari, from the left, crosses and beats Menta for the final 2-2. The Parma team have the winning ball: a free kick taken perfectly by Morigoni, to which Raccichini says no, on the rebound Fanti hits a sensational crossbar. Finally, number 9 wastes a counterattack by shooting at Raccichini.
For Salsomaggiore there is regret for a missed victory and for the many wasted opportunities. The ranking does not smile on Mr. Luigi Apolloni’s boys, as they are overtaken by Zola Predosa, winner in Fidenza. Correggese, on the other hand, is now time to think about the promotion play-offs, at the cost of losing a few points along the way in their final efforts in the regular season.
A defeat that stings, especially for how it came and the importance of the match. There Fidentina (32) slips unexpectedly at the “Dario Ballotta” in Fidenza in a direct clash with him Zola Predosa (37), who only needs one goal to get 3 vital points.
The progress of the match is clear: the Granata attack, the Bolognese simply defend. The goal that decides the match, after 17′, comes from Di Giulio, who beats Ghiretti with an unstoppable left-footed shot from inside the area after a well-constructed move. Francesco Montanini’s boys continue to attack and there are two clearest opportunities: a header from Varani and a shot from outside by El Hani, both stopped by two excellent saves from Roccia.
After a rather positive period, the Borghigiani suffered a bad setback towards the chase for salvation: the gap from 12th place is now 5 points, difficult to close with three days to go. What makes the situation worse is the victory of La Pieve Nontanola (1-2 at home of the derelict Bagnolese), which catches up with the Fidentini, shortening the ranking even further. The margin over Faro Gaggio Montano, defeated 0-3 by Nibbiano&Valtidone, can keep Petrelli and his teammates “calm” in view of the next 3 finals to be won against Pieve Nonantola, Virtus Castelfranco and Rolo.
