French Forward Armel Traoré Declares for 2024 NBA Draft: A Rising Star to Watch

If we obviously talk a lot about Zaccharie Risacher, Alexandre Sarr or even Tidjane Salaün among the big French prospects in the next NBA Draft, another Frenchie has decided to present himself at the big ceremony next June: Armel Traoré.

Having passed through Pôle France, Monaco, then the Metropolitans 92 of Victor Wembanyama and Bilal Coulibaly last season, Armel Traoré managed to make his mark this season with Blois in Betclic Elite: 10.3 points on average, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists in 27 appearances (25.4 minutes per game), all at 52.5% shooting but a small 23% at 3-points. This is a career-best season for the 21-year-old prospect.

Armel Traore has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft, he told ESPN. The 6’9 forward with a 7’3 wingspan is having a productive season in the French first division, averaging 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds in 25 minutes per game for Blois. pic.twitter.com/8ryAs8xUJd

A 2m03 winger/power forward (2m20 wingspan), Armel Traoré has interesting athletic qualities, is strong in rebounding and proves this year (in a weak team of course) that he is capable of making an impact at the highest French level. There is clearly potential to be exploited on both ends of the pitch.

Now, at “already” 21 years old and after some injury concerns, not at all sure that Traoré will be called up for the 2024 NBA Draft, he who is not projected anywhere in the mocks at the moment. But with good momentum, the time has come for Armel to try his luck.

Aside from his club career, Armel Traoré won the U20 Euro with the French team in 2023 and was U19 world vice-champion in 2021.
