Scottie Scheffler is unstoppable on the PGA Tour. After the next victory, the number one in the golf world presents the competition with a seemingly impossible task – and is doing the same as German golf icon Bernhard Langer.

Golf superstar Scottie Scheffler won the next golf tournament a week after his second Masters victory in Augusta. The world number one from the USA triumphed on Monday at the $20 million PGA tournament in Hilton Head Island. Scheffler is currently unstoppable on the US tour: he won four titles in his last five tournament starts.

The 27-year-old Texan clearly prevailed at the RBC Heritage with a total score of 265 strokes against his compatriots Sahith Theegala (268) as well as Wyndham Clark and Patrick Cantlay (both 269 strokes). The German golf professional Stephan Jäger (275) finished the tournament in the US state of South Carolina in tied 18th place.

“Even though I came second, I felt like I was never really in contention for the win. Scottie was just so far ahead,” Theegala said. About 400 spectators waiting along the 18th fairway ended up filling a corner of the grandstand on the final hole as Scheffler approached. His bogey ended a streak of 68 consecutive holes with par or better, another sign of his amazing consistency.

Scheffler does it like Langer

Scheffler is only the second player in PGA Tour history to win the Masters in Augusta and then the RBC Heritage. The first professional to achieve this was Germany’s golf icon Bernhard Langer in 1985. For the victory in Hilton Head Island, Scheffler received prize money of 3.6 million dollars. The tournament at Harbor Town Golf Links didn’t finish until Monday. The final round was interrupted for two and a half hours on Sunday due to a thunderstorm and later had to be canceled due to darkness.

Next up for Scheffler is a different kind of win: His wife is pregnant with their first child, due next week. The other three majors will follow, starting with the PGA Championship, which will take place from May 16th to 19th.
