Historic break-in! Tiger Woods with a horror round on the third day in Augusta

First the record, then the historic collapse: golf superstar Tiger Woods has to bury his dream of his sixth triumph at the 88th Masters in Augusta after a disastrous third round.

The long-time world number one played an 82 on Saturday and was ten shots over par – it was the worst of his 99 rounds in Augusta.

After making the cut at the Masters for the 24th time in a row the day before, setting a record, the 15-time major champion Woods increasingly found himself in trouble. The 48-year-old, who suffered serious leg injuries in a car accident in 2021, appeared at times as if he was having difficulty running laps.

On Friday, Woods, eight shots behind, declared that he believed in his chance of winning his sixth green jacket and thereby setting Jack Nicklaus’ record. After the third day, this chance is now gone.

Stephan Jäger was the only German in the field who had already failed to make the cut.
