Only Steffen Baumgart (52) himself doesn’t want to get involved. The HSV coach on the BILD SPORT program on WELT TV: “We don’t look up or down. We’re looking at Magdeburg and we want to win. We can influence the games and play successfully. We want to collect points. Anyone who thinks we have been written off is wrong.”

The “big” HSV is currently nine points behind its “small” city rivals. Baumgart explains what St. Pauli is currently doing better than his club: “They simply play good football and have a good plan. Pauli is ahead in all statistics. They work very well. We’re working on making this a snapshot. We should make sure we reduce this gap.”

During the broadcast with the BILD presenter duo Valentina Maceri and Carli Underberg, as well as expert Walter M. Straten, Baumgart was also asked about a possible transfer of BVB young star Youssoufa Moukoko (19).

Baumgart candidly: “Give me the phone number. Give me a chance to get it. I’ll even pick him up personally. It’s no secret that I think about him every year. The question is whether he has the confidence to do that.”

When asked about a comparison between his former club Cologne and HSV, especially about the cooperation with the respective club bosses, Baumgart reacts annoyed: “This question is not okay. There will be no comparisons. I worked well with those responsible in Cologne for two and a half years. This is also a club that belongs in the Bundesliga. I hope that we don’t have to go into relegation against Cologne.”
