Coach South KoreaHwang Sun-hong admitted that he was surprised to see the action U-23 Indonesian National Team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
Hwang believes that coach Shin Tae Yong has created a very good team. STY’s former teammate while strengthening the Korean national team did not deny that the Garuda Muda Team had the potential to win.
The Indonesian U-23 national team will challenge Korea in the quarter-finals of the U-23 Asian Cup. The Korea vs Indonesia clash will take place at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, Thursday (25/4).
“I was surprised to see the competition [Indonesia] because coach Shin created a very good team,” he said as reported by Korean media Newsis.
“I think this is a good team, they showed a good performance. I think this is a team that can win if they are alert and ready,” he continued.
Hwang will not play around preparing his team to serve on the U-23 Indonesian National Team. Apart from believing that Rizky Ridho and his friends are not easy opponents, Hwang wants to realize his target, namely bringing the Taeguk Warriors to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
“The real game starts now [perempat final]. Indonesia is not an easy opponent,” he said.
“I will do my best to achieve my target [mengantarkan Korea lolos Olimpiade 2024].”
Korea qualified for the quarter-finals of the U-23 Asian Cup as winners of Group B. Meanwhile, the Indonesian U-23 National Team advanced to the last eight after finishing second in Group A.
