Inter Stands by Francesco Acerbi: Acquitted in Racism Allegations by Napoli Defender

Accused by Napoli defender Juan Jesus of calling him a “dirty nigger”, Inter player Francesco Acerbi was acquitted by the Italian sports justice system. A decision which had the gift of putting the Partenopei and the Brazilian beside themselves. But at Inter, the nerazzurra management supports the 36-year-old defender, as Beppe Marotta said before kick-off of tonight’s match between Inter and Empoli.

“Until now we have been deliberately silent. (…) We asked our player to tell us what happened on the pitch and he told us what was the truth, his truth, the objective truth. We had no doubt about what he had told us and we had no evidence of discriminatory behavior in the images. So we supported him with attorney Capellini in his deposition and the judge then made his decision. Inter always stands with any initiative to fight racism, we are against racism and we stand with Juan Jesus in this regard. But at the same time, there is a legal aspect that must be respected, but above all there is the truth of a professional like Acerbi who has already had major health problems in his life and I believe that he cannot joke about these subjects »he declared in comments relayed by the Gazzetta dello Sport.
