Iowa State football has added another man for the trenches for its 2025 recruiting class, picking up 3-star offensive tackle Jack Shaffer from North Dakota.

Shaffer held offers from Wisconsin, Kansas State, Duke, North Dakota and North Dakota State. At 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, he was 247Sports’ No. 2 overall prospect from the state and the No. 64 overall offensive tackle prospect in the country.

As the anchor for the offensive line at Bismarck High School, Shaffer helped lead the Demons to a 7-3 record in his junior season. The program averaged just over 29 points per game, according to MaxPreps.

Shaffer is the seventh commitment to the Cyclones’s 2025 recruiting class, with the majority being built on the offensive and defensive line thus far. Shaffer will join Iowa high school standout Will Tompkins (Cedar Falls) as the second offensive tackle prospect in the class. If they stick around, they’ll project to protect 2025 3-star quarterback commit Alex Manske of Algona.

On the opposite side of the line of scrimmage, the class already has three edge rushers committed. Just this past Sunday, 3-star edge rusher Charlie Woleben from the state of Kansas became the sixth commit in the class. As a result, the Cyclones have the 33rd-overall ranked recruiting class for 2025, good for seventh in the Big 12 according to 247Sports.
