Despite a temporary 21-point deficit, the New York Knicks have ended their losing streak in the North American professional basketball league NBA. With the 120:109 win against the Sacramento Kings, Isaiah Hartenstein’s team drew level with the fourth-placed Orlando Magic in the East.
Led by the outstanding Jalen Brunson (35 points) and Josh Hart (31), the Knicks demonstrated comeback qualities. Hartenstein dropped slightly in terms of points as a starting player – but recorded nine assists and seven rebounds.
The Dallas Mavericks also got an important home win in the fight for the direct play-off places in the West. Maximilian Kleber’s team won against the Atlanta Hawks in their home arena with 109:95.
The Mavericks got off to a slow start. MVP candidate Luka Doncic didn’t score a basket in the first quarter – but then turned things around and ended up with 25 points, twelve rebounds and eight assists. Kleber recorded seven points, six rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes of playing time. With eight wins in the last ten games, Dallas is one of the league’s strongest teams.
The Los Angeles Clippers won against the champion Denver Nuggets 102:100 without world champion Daniel Theis. Denver’s superstar Nikola Jokic managed another triple double, but he missed the decisive three-pointer with one second left. With the win, Los Angeles secured fourth place in the West.
