Jackson Chourio: Rising Star in the MLB Shining on Both Offense and Defense

Jackson Chourio is the second best prospect in the Major Leagues and he has begun to show why. The Venezuelan has been among the best outfielders since his MLB debut.

Chourio has played every game this season in right field. The Venezuelan was only in the right field for eight games out of 116 games he saw action in 2023.

Despite that, the Venezuelan prospect is already among the main leaders in defensive statistics.

Chourio is the right fielder with the most Outs Above Average (OAA) with 2. He has also collaborated in preventing two runs from the rival offense.

The Venezuelan is third among right fielders with the most runs saved on defense. Only Hunter Renfroe and Dominic Fletcher have one more than Chourio.

Jackson Chourio also has a good run in front of the ball. He is one of the best in terms of reaction and the distance covered to jump to take fly balls.

Among fielding percentiles, Baseball Savant gives Jackson Chourio a 99 after the first two weeks of the season.

Jackson Chourio also produces on offense

The Venezuelan began to see the ball more at Miller Park in Milwaukee and last week he hit his first two home runs with the team.

Through the first eight games, Jackson Chourio has a .281 batting average with 9 hits, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Chourio is already the youngest Venezuelan to have a home run in the Majors. He will now look to continue putting up great numbers to be considered for the Rookie of the Year award.

Jackson Chourio has only shown a small part of what he can do in the Major Leagues, but he has even been living up to expectations since his debut.
