Jamrichova, in the quarterfinals of the TDC Series Pro suffering

Renata Jamrichova, a 16-year-old Slovak tennis player and junior world number one, remains alive in her goal of achieving the title in the sixth and last tournament of the month of the TDC Series Pro circuit, of the ITF 15,000 category, which is held at the facilities of the Yellow Bowl Sports Club, based at El Cortijo Country Club.

This year’s junior Australian Open champion is already in the quarterfinals. She eliminated Japan’s Rinko Matsuda in three sets this Thursday in her second round match. The Balkan, with many doubts, lost the first set 6-1. In the second, the Japanese player continued with her aggressive game, making her rival uncomfortable, whom she led 4-0.

But after a long game, Jamrichova opened her score and from then on the match took a considerable turn. The Slovak made it 1-1 by taking the set 7-6. In the third and final act, she brought out all her arsenal and closed the match 6-1.

For her part, María García Cid, in another high-voltage duel, defeated the Dutch Sara Van Enst. The Spaniard overcame a bad start to the match to win 7-6 and 6-1. The Swiss Marie Metraux, top seed, beat the Swedish Isabel Skoog, 15 years old, in more than two hours, 3-6, 7-5 and 6-4. The Dutch Judith Visser, the number two favorite, easily eliminated the Almeria-born María Oliver (6-2 and 6-3).

The surprise of the day came from Ha Yoon Son, 15 years old. The Korean, who is competing in the tournament at an invitation from the organization, defeated the Swede Jacqueline Nylander with tennis that impressed the public by a comfortable 6-2 and 6-1, qualifying for her first quarterfinals.

This Friday, starting at 10:00 a.m., the quarterfinal matches will be played with interesting matches, after which the doubles final will take place.
