Jerry West to Be Inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for Front Office Contributions

Time has passed since Jerry West left the Los Angeles Lakers bench to become General Manager of the franchise in 1979. Since then, the legendary shooting guard has been one of the most important figures in the NBA offices. First in the Lakers, and then in the Grizzlies and Clippers. More than 40 years after making the leap to the offices, West will be elected as a member of the Hall of Fame for his performance in these matters.

This was announced by Adrian Wojnarowski despite the fact that the official announcement would have arrived next Saturday. This will be the third time the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has recognized West. The first two were about his playing career and his role on the 1960 U.S. team that won the Olympics.

Joining him, for now, will be Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups. Revealed by Shams Charania just a few hours ago. The 2024 edition of the Hall of Fame will be held next Sunday, July 21 in Springfield.
