After the success of Los Angeles Lakers sui Denver Nuggets in Game 4, the yellow-purple have another opportunity to give 110% and extend the series. 🏀 Darvin Ham: «We never lost focus»

Optimism pervades the soul of Darwin Ham in the press room after the first, hard-earned victory in the series.

For the first time the yellow-violet captured more rebounds than Denver (46vs40): the credit goes above all to Anthony Davis’ 23 (!):

«He was dominant, really. He had a tough matchup with Jokic, but his focus on defense and communication was excellent. He played actively, I want him to be even more perfect.”

«We have always played good fractions, but never a complete match, until tonight: we remained united until the end, with altruism and team sense. We had to win this match, now we have to stay focused.”

Not even time to articulate a question about D’Angelo Russell, and Ham interrupts the journalist to clarify the great trust placed in the hands of the former Minnesota player. After the question was concluded, the coach responded as follows:

«I have faith in him, I loved his game and his approach. I told him to believe in himself and do what he knows how to do on the pitch. We deserve this victory after everything we’ve been through. […] When he is decisive and aggressive he is an elite player, we really needed him today.»

Unlike recent games, the Lakers were not scared by Denver’s timid comeback in the third quarter:

«We continued with our pace and defended very well, they also scored some and ones but we organized ourselves in the right way and communicated well with Bron, AD and Russell. I said it yesterday in the film session, we need to talk to each other and live in the moment without fear of being eliminated.»

💬 Austin Reaves: «We have another chance»

Austin Reaves finished with a team-high 21 points in 24 minutes of play, another solid showing from the guard.

«We found a better offensive rhythm, we scored 119 points, everything worked better than in the first 3 games. Obviously playing with Bron and AD helps you, because the pressure is more on their shoulders and the coaches mainly think about limiting the two of them.»

«We have the chance to play another match, you always want to win 4-0 but every time a new opportunity arrives we are ready to welcome the challenge.»

Reaves was also asked for his opinion on the yellow-purple rebounding production, especially regarding AD, who took half of the team’s total 46

«Davis does a lot for us, including rebounding. To get 23 in a game like that says a lot about his mentality. We must continue to help him, the hope is that he captures them all.”

There is no shortage of compliments to DLo either:

«He was fantastic, he shot well, scoring 4 out of 8 triples. He plays with style, we need him at the highest level to win. He didn’t let anything distract him and he showed how necessary he is for the team. […] When some teammate plays well we are always happy for him and we share a positive energy. Seeing him play like that encouraged the team to play well.”

Finally, a quick analysis on defensive stops on Aaron Gordononly 7 points today after the 29 scored in Game 3:

«It’s difficult to play against him because he’s a really good cutter and moves without the ball next to Jokic, and positions himself very well to grab offensive rebounds. You always have to keep an eye on him, today we did it successfully.»

👌 The words of D’Angelo Russell

And even the much praised Russell (with an outfit clearly dictated by post-race happiness) speaks in the press room with journalists.

«In the third quarter we didn’t stop attacking them, always sticking to the game plan and staying focused. […] Criticism on social media? I remain as humble as possible, I’ve been there several times. I try to prepare as best I can for these matches throughout the year, not allowing myself to be influenced by other people’s opinions

Ham, as he himself declared, placed a lot of trust in DLo… who however drew more inspiration from someone else:

“I really appreciate all that, but I believe in myself more than anyone else… well, I don’t need it, but I appreciate it.”
