Monday’s Match Postponed Due to Solar Eclipse: Yankees vs. Marlins Game Rescheduled

Monday’s match at the Stadium was supposed to start at 2pm local time, but to avoid interference with the astronomical event the first launch was moved to 6pm

April 5th – 5.41pm – MILAN

Match postponed due to solar eclipse. It’s not every day you read news like this. Yet Monday’s match at Yankee Stadium between the home team and the Miami Marlins, whose first pitch was scheduled for 2.05pm New York time, was moved to 6.05pm. The eclipse, whose “totality” phase will last about 4 minutes (but the partial one should end at around 4.18pm) will only be visible in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and will begin at 2.18pm local time, so it would have coincided precisely with the first innings of the game.

The decision was made by the Yankees and the Major Leagues, to avoid possible suspension of the game and still allow spectators to follow the event. The gates will open at 3pm and, as expected, the first 15,000 spectators will be given free T-shirts with the words “Yankees Solar Eclipse”.
