While we are in the middle of the first round of the Playoffs, the NBA is in the middle of negotiations for its next TV rights contract. And as expected, there will be a part reserved for a streaming platform: Amazon Prime!
We were talking about it a few days ago, it’s confirmed.
According to The Athletic, Amazon Prime will acquire part of the NBA broadcasting rights. The League and the streaming platform have in fact found common ground which will allow the latter to broadcast matches from the 2025-26 season. And obviously not just any matches: important regular season matches (possibly Thursday evening), as well as Playoff matches (possibly going all the way to the conference finals).
A landmark move in sports media history.
It is expected that Prime Video’s package will include significant regular season and postseason games, perhaps even some conference finals.

We would start with a deal lasting a minimum of ten years. Always according to The Athletic, ESPN/ABC should keep its TV rights for the coming decade, and thus continue to be the broadcaster of the NBA Finals. We would therefore start with a global package including ESPN/ABC for TV, and Amazon Prime for streaming. A fourth broadcaster (TNT? NBC?) could still enter the fray according to sources.
If all this has yet to be formalized, we now see more clearly on the structure of the NBA’s next deal in terms of TV rights.
