Will Novak Djokovic soon be on the ATP tour without a coach?

Compatriot Nenad Zimonjic made himself comfortable in Novak Djokovic’s support box at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo. After the Serb declared the long-standing and successful collaboration with Goran Ivanisevic ended at the end of March, the former number one in doubles was there to fill the vacant position. According to rumors, Zimonjic will also be at Djoker’s side at the clay court tournament in Rome. What happens next still seems completely unclear.

At the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, the record player surprised everyone with a previously unthinkable option: “I think I’m now in a phase of my career where I can afford to think about whether it’s not also an option. not having a coach.” However, “Nole” softened the steep thesis somewhat: “It’s not that I don’t think I need a coach at all. I think it’s always an advantage to have a good team.”

“We’re talking about a sequel”

The reigning ATP Finals champion will probably decide in the next few days and weeks whether it will ultimately remain Zimonjic who will hold the quasi-leading role in Team Djokovic until further notice. “I really had a good time with Zimonjic. We are talking about a sequel. Let’s see, I will make the decision in the near future.”

The French Open marks the beginning of an extremely busy and important period of time for the 36-year-old. In addition to Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open, the Olympic Games in Paris are high on the South Slav’s list of priorities.
