Orlando Magic’s Franz Wagner Suffers Ankle Sprain, Status for Next Game Questionable

At this point in the NBA season, any minor setback is a big deal. That’s exactly what the Orlando Magic must have thought when one of their most important pieces, Franz Wagner, sprained his right ankle on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls, being forced to leave the court.

After such a mishap, and without knowing the severity of the ailment, the Florida organization quickly got to work to see what was happening with their player’s joint. Well, the MRI that has been performed has confirmed that it is only a sprained ankle and that there is no major damage; so much so that he could even play this coming morning against the Houston Rockets.

Much of the Magic’s progress compared to last year – they won 34 games and are now up to 46 – is due to the performance of the German player, who will be eligible for a contract extension in the summer and who to date has averaged 19, 6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1 steal in 70 games played. Orlando is currently third in the Eastern Conference.
