Paris 2024 Olympic Games: an agreement signed with three associations to avoid food waste

Objective: no waste during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP) will sign, this Wednesday, April 24, in the morning at the Paris 2024 headquarters, an agreement with three associations to avoid minimize food waste during the competition.

“During the Games, nearly 13 million meals and snacks will be served at the competition sites and in the different villages,” explains the organization in a press release. In this context, the fight against food waste and the recovery of resources that are still consumable are key commitments of Paris 2024 for more responsible catering. These will be able to materialize from today thanks to the implementation of a collection and redistribution plan by three associations committed to food solidarity. »

These three associations, whose representatives will be present alongside Tony Estanguet on Wednesday to present the measures that will be put in place, are the Restos du Cœur, the French Federation of Food Banks and the Missing Link. Audrey Pulvar, deputy mayor of Paris, in charge of sustainable food and Léa Filoche, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of solidarity, will also be present.
