Parma’s Historic Season Continues with Victory over Spezia

That Spezia was an opponent historically favorable to Parma was confirmed by historical records, given that the Gialloblù had not lost against the Eagles for more than 45 years (the last defeat was on 25 May 1978, in Serie C).

Appeals that were not denied this time either, given that the 2-0 of the hosts at the Tardini interrupted the positive streak of 5 matches of the team coached by Luca D’Angelo, which had been going on for more than a month.
Thanks to the second clean sheet consecutive (as well as fourth in a row for the Crociati against Spezia in Serie B), Parma has achieved yet another seasonal record given that never, on the 33rd day of a Serie B championship, had it achieved 20 victories: in the history of the cadet league only Benevento did better, with 23, in the ’19/’20 season. At the same time, in a great classic between coaches in Serie B, Pecchia edged out his colleague Luca D’Angelo, one of the rivals that the Forma coach has met most often in his career: in the 7 total comparisons (as many as those against Longo, Brocchi and Castori), took the lead with 3 victories to 2.

Furthermore, waiting for today’s Venezia match, Parma’s attack has become the best attack in Serie B, with 59 goals scored. Indeed, there are few bad ones among these, since even in yesterday’s match the Crusader attackers, in addition to demonstrating their high technical caliber, left the feeling that, to score, an out of the ordinary play is often needed. Starting from the thwarted feat of Bonny, technical and physical essay by Ronaldiana (understood as Ronaldo Nazario) memory. Hernani’s opening goal follows and, although the ball is fouled, it remains in its extraordinary ballistics; or Charpentier’s definitive 2-0, certainly less beautiful, but which took advantage of Zoet’s awkward injury: certainly not an ordinary action.
The goals from Hernani and Charpentier capture both the moment and Parma’s season well, whose last 10 goals bear 10 different signatures, out of the 14 total players who scored this year in Pecchia’s squad. Starting from Cyprien’s goal against Cosenza in the 27th minute, in addition to the former Nice player, Bonny, Benedyczak, Man, Delprato, Mihaila, Estevéz and, finally, the Hernani-Charpentier duo will also alternate on the scoresheets; if to these we add Casasola’s own goal against Ternana, then we get 10 different scorers for as many goals in the last 7 days (average of almost 1.5 goals scored per match, given the wet dust against Catanzaro and Südtirol). Extending the count also to assists, Chichizola is added to the list in the first goal in Terni for Bonny (who also adds 2 assists in addition to the goal, making him Parma’s most decisive player, also statistically) and Osorio for Delprato’s 2-1 in home match against Brescia. In total, 12 players have contributed to the latest goals scored by Parma: 11 starters and one reserve.

In this regard, it is almost reductive to talk about Charpentier as the 12th yellow and blue man. The 4 goals in the championship, all from the bench, make him the player to have scored the most as a substitute. Like him also Gytkjær, Soleri, Distefano and Moncini, but compared to these it is the ratio goals scored per minutes played distinguish him: the Frenchman scores on average 1 goal every 135 minutes of play, to which must be added the 3 assists, always from the bench, which reveal a participation rate every 77 minutes. Furthermore, Charpentier fits into the context of the team that has found the most goals from substitutes: in fact there are 16, at least 3 more than the others in Serie B, in total. Wanting to be mischievous (and insatiable), one can ask whether it is due to the ability to read the game or to faulty preparation. The fact is that Parma’s arsenal is certainly not limited to “plan A”.

No less joy for Hernani, who celebrated his 100th appearance in the Crociati jersey in a grand way with his 1st goal at the Tardini this year, also making captain Delprato happy as he saw the header, the 3rd, convert the ball into the net. staff in season (personal record). The Brazilian midfielder thus scores 2 goals in the yellow-blue shirt against Spezia, becoming Parma’s all-time best scorer against the Ligurians in the 27 previous matches so far.

It’s not done yet, but the finish line is starting to appear on the horizon and, whatever happens, this will remain a historic season.
