Miami Marlins left-handed pitcher Luzardo pulled from lineup due to soreness in his elbow.

Luzardo has faced difficulties in his five starts this season, recording a 0-2 record and a 6.58 ERA. In 26 innings, he has struck out 27 batters, walked 13, and given up five home runs.

In his time with the Oakland A’s (2019-2021) and the Marlins, he has played in a total of 98 games (82 of which he started), with a career record of 23 wins and 30 losses and a 4.32 ERA.

Instead of him, pitcher Anthony Maldonado is set to have his first official game in the major leagues as the Marlins go up against the Washington Nationals on Friday evening for a four-game series.

Unfortunately, Luzardo, a pitcher for the Marlins, is dealing with an injury that has hindered his ability to start games. Another left-handed pitcher, A.J. Puk, was recently placed on the 15-day injured list due to fatigue in his left shoulder. Additionally, Sandy Alcantara and Eury Perez are in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery, while Braxton Garrett is unable to play due to left shoulder impingement.

Maldonado, age 26, was promoted from Triple-A Jacksonville after achieving a record of 11 wins and 3 losses with an impressive 1.84 ERA in a span of three years and 78⅓ innings pitched.

Luzardo was removed from the Miami Marlins’ lineup on Friday due to pain in his elbow, leading to the cancellation of his expected start.
