Da Nang, Vietnam (VNA) – The 13th ASEAN School Games (ASG) competition began today with the first match between the Thai and Malaysian women’s basketball teams at the Da Nang University Sports Center in this city. Central Vietnamese.
The two teams had an impressive match, attracting the crowd with beautiful moves. At the end of the match, the Thai team defeated Malaysia with a score of 65 – 60.
In the XIII ASG, in the men’s category, eight teams are divided into two groups. Group A includes the Philippines, Thailand, Laos and Indonesia, while group B includes Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Brunei.
In the women’s category there are six teams that are divided into two groups. Group C includes the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand, while group D includes Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Teams compete from May 31 to June 7. The Vietnam women’s basketball team will play its first game on June 1 against Indonesia, while the Indochinese country’s men’s team will face Brunei.
The event, with the theme “Connect and Shine Together,” has attracted some 1,300 athletes and coaches from 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Athletes will compete in 107 events across six sports: swimming, athletics, badminton, basketball, Pencak Silat and Vovinam.
The opening ceremony of the sporting event will take place on June 1./.
