Alexander Zverev Beats Rafael Nadal at French Open: Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla Missing

Tennis player Alexander Zverev (27) beat tennis legend Rafael Nadal (37) at the French Open in Paris with a score of 6:3, 7:6, 6:3. The latter holds the record with 14 tournament victories and is the so-called King of Roland Garros. A spectacular performance by Zverev. Only one person was missing: girlfriend Sophia Thomalla (34).

After his victory, Alexander Zverev himself only had a hint of a smile and modestly refrained from celebrating. In the brief winner’s interview later, he simply said: “Today is not my moment, this is Rafa’s moment.” Nadal congratulated his opponent on his victory amid cheers.

After the Swede Robin Söderling (39) and the record Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic (37), Zverev is only the third player to beat the clay court king. Sophia Thomalla, however, could not congratulate him because she was not there.

Only on Instagram did the daughter of “Tatort” star Simone Thomalla (59) share a post from her boyfriend and an arm-in-arm snapshot of Zverev and Nadal. She wrote: “Meanwhile in Paris” with a heart emoji.

Instead of cheering in the audience as she often does, Sophia had to watch the match on the hotel TV. She is currently sunbathing on Koh Samui, Thailand. Admittedly, she is working. The 34-year-old is currently in front of the camera under palm trees as a presenter for the dating show “Are You The One?”

Sophia has been hosting the show since 2021 and remains in the audience’s memory above all because of her big mouth. It is not without reason that one or two participants are afraid of the presenter’s biting comments.

Zverev will have to wait several more weeks before he can toast his victory with his girlfriend. Instead, he shares a snapshot on the tennis court with Rafael Nadal and writes: “It was an honor to play against you again.”
