Semarang – The defending women’s champion, Bandung bjb Tandamata, has suffered another victim. After defeating Jakarta BIN last week in Yogyakarta, in the first series of the first round, it was Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia’s turn to be the next victim, in the opening match of the second series at GOR Jatidiri, Semarang, Thursday 2 May 2024
In the continuation of the highest caste volleyball competition in Indonesia, Proliga 2024, Bandung bjb Tandamata won over Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia with a score of 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 29-27).
At GOR Amongrogo Yogyakarta, last week, Bank bjb won once and lost once. One defeat was suffered against Jakarta Pertamina Enduro, in the opening match.
Meanwhile, for Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia, this is the third defeat in the 2024 PLN Mobile Proliga. The two previous defeats were suffered by Jakarta Popsivo Polwan 1-3 and Jakarta Pertamina Enduro 0-3.
Bank bjb plays straight and without compromise. The duet of foreign players, Hanna Davyskiba and Jovanna Brakocevic brought Bandung bjb Tandamata ahead 25-17.
Bandung bjb Tandamata team vs Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia
In the second set, both teams played hard, because Petrokimia did not want to repeat mistakes like in the first set. Mediol Stiovany Yoku and friends tried to reduce the gap like in the first set. Meanwhile Shella Bernadetha and her friends also tried to maintain their lead, but in the second set Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia was luckier and ended the set 23-25.
In the third set, Bank bjb Tandamata, coached by Alim Suseno and the defending Proliga champion, didn’t want to lose again. In the third set, Bandung bjb Tandamata played aggressively, two foreign players, Hana Davyskiba and Jovanna Brakocevic, did not give the Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia players a chance, and they won the third set 25-15.
The fourth set could be likened to a match of life and death for the Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia women’s team, in that set Mediol Stiovany Yoku seemed to find a pretty good rhythm. A chase for points ensued.
Towards the end of the fourth set, the Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia players lost their rhythm again, even though the position was 24-24. The Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia coach tried to take a technical time out to give special instructions to Mediol Stiovany Yoku and friends, only for Shella Bernadetha and friends from Bandung bjb Tandamata to get excited and end the fourth set with 27-25.
Petrokimia is less fortunate, Bandung bjb is grateful
After the match, the coach of Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia, who had just joined Semarang, Risco Herlambang admitted that he was unlucky in this match.
“Yes, I was unlucky because I only joined last Tuesday,” said the coach from West Java.
However, Risco said that his team’s play actually showed quite good progress compared to the first week in Yogyakarta.
“There has been good progress, hopefully next Sunday’s match will be even better,” added Risco.
The captain of the Petrochemical team, Mediol Stiovany Yoku, also admitted that there had been significant developments.
“In the future, we need even better chemistry, so we can perform better,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alim Suseno, coach of Bank bjb Tandamata, admitted that he was grateful for the victory from Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia.
“We are very grateful for this victory. And the children also performed quite well,” he said.
According to him, his team should not have had to play up to four if the children had been calmer in the second set.
“In the second set, we were already three points ahead, 23-20. But the kids were less calm and we lost,” added Alim.
Meanwhile, one of the Bank bjb stars, Shella Bernadetha, admitted that she was hot playing in the second week of the PLN Mobile Proliga 2024 in Semarang.
“There are no problems for the Bandung bjb Tandamata team’s game. The only problem is the hot weather in Semarang,” said Shella Bernadetha.
