Belgium reactivates Witsel, Courtois misses European Championship

Belgium’s team boss came up with a surprise when presenting his 25-man squad for the European Championship finals. The coach reactivated Axel Witsel for his squad. The defensive midfielder from Atletico Madrid announced his retirement from the team last year. The 35-year-old has played 130 times for Belgium so far.

Long-time regular goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, on the other hand, was not considered. David Alaba’s club colleague at Real Madrid had a falling out with Tedesco in June of last year after Tedesco had not made him captain. Courtois was also injured for a long time, but he reported fit again for the Champions League final on Saturday.
