Bochum

Bayer Leverkusen doesn’t want to let off the gas before the end of the 2023/2024 Bundesliga. Visiting Bochum, Die Werkself won 5-0.

In the 33rd match at Vonovia Ruhrstadion, Monday (13/5/2024) early morning WIB, Leverkusen did not field several of its core players. Even Florian Wirtz was absent from this match.

Using Patrick Schick and Victor Boniface up front, Leverkusen had difficulty dismantling Bochum’s defense. Even when the hosts had to play with 10 men after Felix Passlack fouled Nathan Tella in the 14th minute.

The deadlock only broke in the 41st minute when Schick, who was closely guarded by Bochum players, was still able to shoot a first-time shot in front of goal, after receiving Arthur’s cross.

Four minutes later Leverkusen doubled the score through Boniface’s penalty. This violation was given to Leverkusen after Nathan Tella was brought down in the forbidden box.

Winning 2-0 in the first half did not make Leverkusen satisfied. They continued to attack Bochum until finally they got the third goal scored by Amine Adli in the 76th minute.

Jonas Hofmann’s corner headed towards the far post and was met by Adli’s header into the Bochum goal. Leverkusen’s lead increased in the 86th minute through Josip Stasinic.

Stasinic outwitted one player after entering the penalty box and fired a direct shot into the corner of the Bochum goal controlled by Manuel Riemann to make the score 4-0.

The 5-0 victory was confirmed by Alejandro Grimaldo’s goal in injury time from a counter-attack. Now it was Stasinic’s turn to be the feeder through acceleration on the right side of the defense and as soon as he faced the goalkeeper, the ball was passed to Grimaldo who easily scored.

The additional three points means Leverkusen now has 87 points, 15 points ahead of Bayern Munich in second place. Bochum is in 14th position with 33 points, only three points ahead of Union Berlin in 17th place.
