Brazilian Judo Confederation announces team for Abu Dhabi World Championships – Mayra Aguiar absent from roster

The Brazilian Judo Confederation (CBJ) announced the list of 18 athletes who will participate in the Abu Dhabi World Championships, in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE competition, which was held from the 19th to the 24th of this month, is the last world competition before the Olympic Games. The main event was the absence of Olympic medalist Mayra Aguiar.

In contact, Mayra Aguiar’s advisor reported that she “comes with a different program” and last year she competed in some Grand Slam tournaments with positive results. She is now “completely focused on the Paris Games.” Mayra did not participate in any international competitions in 2024.

These are the cases of Amanda Lima and Natasha Ferreira in the 48 kg category; Kathleen Cuadros and Nauana Silva at 63 kg; Ellen Froner and Luana Carvalho in 70 kg; and Michel Augusto in 60 kg. They are already in the direct relegation zone but need more points to avoid the risk of relegation.
