Budding Badminton Stars Shine in Soriana Provincial Circuit 2024

The Soriana Badminton Delegation launched a new edition of the Provincial Badminton Circuit, which in this 2024 season celebrates its twenty-seventh edition under the current format.

The first of the three events was held on Sunday, with the absolute, sub-17 and sub-13 categories being played in the individual and doubles modalities. Within the individual senior category, the great surprise of the event occurred with the triumph of Daniela Corchón, who is developing her sports career by leaps and bounds. In the final, she faced her coach, Víctor Ortega. The final was of a high level, with Daniela being luckier in the last points of the third set. In the semifinals, they defeated Ana Peñaranda and Manuel Acero respectively.

Once again Daniela, together with Ana Peñaranda, was the protagonist of the doubles final that pitted them against the seniors Manuel Acero and Santiago Martínez. Their greater experience and combination led them to win the final in three games. In the intermediate category, the sub-17s, Daniel Marín took the victory, beating Carmen Gómez in the final. Álvaro Gómez and Isabel Corchón were classified in third position.

Within the doubles category there was a lot of equality and María González and Lucía Manzanares improved their individual performances until they won all their matches by two sets to zero, including the final against Isabel Corchón and Carmen Gómez. Finally in the under-13 category, Eduardo Hernández was the double winner in both singles and doubles. His doubles partner, Adrián Rosa, was the runner-up in the singles draw.

The location in the calendar of the three days aims to complete the competition calendar of the players from Soria and, as is the case with the second test, it will serve as a return to the competition after the summer break since it will be held on the first weekend. of September.

In addition to this competition, two players from Club Bádminton Soria-CS24 competed in tests valid for the national ranking to improve their position in the national table for the second leg of the season. On the one hand, Jorge Peñaranda went to Estella (Navarra) where he achieved a new double as he did at the end of April in Vitoria. He again took gold in both singles and doubles with local David Manzano.
