Businessman John Textor Announces Plans to Sell Crystal Palace Shares and Purchase Everton

Businessman John Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogoannounced that he wants to sell the shares that his company, Eagle Football Holdings, has in Crystal Palace, a club that came in tenth place in the last edition of the Premier League. According to the president, despite being “extremely proud” of the time he invested, the sporting model does not suit the club perfectly.

Textor’s plans now include the purchase of another English team: Everton, which is in trouble with 777 Partners. At Crystal Palace, he was unable to have a majority stake, as happens at Botafogo, for example.

777, in turn, which purchased the shares of Vasco SAF also undergoes a legal fight with Vasco associativo to regain control of the club’s football. The company has not yet managed to complete the purchase of Everton. Iranian businessman Farhad Moshiri owns 94% of the shares.

“Yes (there were talks about buying Everton). I asked if there was a way to resolve this mess. I don’t want to get into a situation where I’m not welcome,” Textor told The Athletic.

“I’m watching [a situação], but the 777 still has a contract. There are people close to the club who care about who is investing. Maybe we are in a position to solve a lot of problems for people, but we are watching because there are people who have a stake in the club. It’s quite confusing and some things need to be cleaned up,” he added.

Moshiri, according to the publication, confirmed that it had received alternative proposals to the 777.

The purchase of Everton by John Textor, it is worth highlighting, could only be made after the sale of Crystal Palace, as it is not allowed for a group to have control over two clubs in the same division.
