Boston Celtics (E1) – Cleveland Cavaliers (E4) 94:118 (BOXSCORE), Serie: 1-1
As in the Miami series, the Celtics dropped Game 2 and this time it wasn’t just the opponent’s hot shooting. Cleveland scored excellently from the three-point line after the break, but the guests were able to keep the game even beforehand, even though Donovan Mitchell barely scored. That changed after the transition, where the All-Star scored 23 of his 29 points (10/19 FG, 5/7 3P, 8 assists).
Evan Mobley was next to guard an outstanding game at both ends of the field, Darius Garland (14, 4/5 threes), Caris LeVert (21, 9/17) and Isaac Okoro (12, 5/5) also showed significant improvement. In the end, the Cavs even won the duel from the perimeter, after the change the Cavs sank 10/18 from downtown.
Boston, on the other hand, seemed very colorless for over 48 minutes, which was also due to the at best mediocre performances from Jayson Tatum (25, 7/17 FG, 9/11 FT) and Jaylen Brown (19, 7/17). In addition, Derrick White (10) had a weak evening with nothing going from the three-point line (1/8 3P). In the second half, the hosts only hit two three-pointers; one bright spot was at least the performance of backup guard Payton Pritchard (13, 6/10).
