Club Brugge Prepares for Busy Summer: Transfer Plans and Yaremchuk’s Return

Now that elimination from the Conference League is a fact, Club Brugge can fully focus on the title battle in their own country. In the meantime, the sporting management is also busy preparing for the new season. It promises to be a busy summer.

As is widely known, Club Brugge will officially start the post-Vincent Mannaert era after the season. And the new directors immediately face some major challenges. First of all, a decision must be made in the trainer’s file. Will Blauw-Zwart continue with Nicky Hayen or will it be a completely new T1?

Large transfer files

The sporting management will then have to consider the transfer work. In fact, this has already started. For example, Igor Thiago was sold to Brentford FC a few months ago. A first signing has already been made with Ardon Jashari, while number two Zaid Romero is also on the way.

But there is much more work to be done. In order to score on several fronts next season, even more reinforcement will be needed. In addition, even more players from the current core are eligible to leave. And finally, a decision will also have to be made about the loaned players who will soon return to Bruges.

No extended stay

One of them is Roman Yaremchuk. The Ukrainian attacker was signed for a record sum of around 17 million euros in the summer of 2022, but was lost. This season he will be rented out to Valencia CF. The international had a difficult start at Los Che, but he has already secured twelve starting places.

But Relief announced this week that an extended stay is not an option. In the current rental deal, a large part of the salary costs are borne by Club. Valencia would not be able to take over the full salary, around 2 million euros. And there are certainly no funds available for a possible transfer fee.

If a solution is not found by the end of the transfer window, Valencia could attempt to loan him again on limited terms. However, such a scenario seems likely. And so Yaremchuk is on his way back to Bruges. According to Get Football the new (?) trainer will have to decide whether to give the attacker another chance. However, that seems unlikely.

Club would prefer to sell him, but realizes that it may then make a significant loss. Unless of course he can put himself in the spotlight at the European Championships. Due to his current contract until mid-2026, a new loan does not seem to be completely ruled out, but that is not the preferred scenario.
