Club Soria Baloncesto Men’s Team Impresses in Castilla y León 3×3 U-17 Championship

The men’s team of Club Soria Baloncesto completed an outstanding performance in the Castilla y León 3×3 U-17 Championship, in which, after having won up to four games, they were only knocked out in the quarterfinals by Iveco Real Valladolid Violeta. Andrés Muñoz, Javier de la Fuente, Martín Navas and Héctor Gil won in half of the eight games played in a marathon day, after which both the Tormes A Basketball Club of Salamanca, new regional champion, like SPB Soto and Alonso de Burgos, who lost in the final 14-21. This last team was the first rival, at the José Luis Talamillo Sports Center in Burgos, of the Soria Baloncesto Club.

SPB Soto y Alonso defeated CSB 19-12, who would only have to wait for the second match of the day to open their record of victories. Andrés Muñoz, Javier de la Fuente, Martín Navas and Héctor Gil beat Iveco Real Valladolid Blanco 21-18. In the other four games of the first phase, the Sorianos added two more victories (19-18 against Zunder Maristas and 21-0 against the Kingdom of León Blanco) and suffered two setbacks (14-16 against Óbila Masculino de Ávila and 9-19 against the Tormes A Basketball Club of Salamanca). These scores placed Club Soria Baloncesto in fourth place in Group A of the first phase and paired them with SPB Prevennova de Burgos in the qualifying round prior to the quarterfinals. A total of thirteen teams participated in the Castilla y León 3×3 U-17 Championship.

Muñoz, De la Fuente, Navas and Gil achieved their fourth victory of the day against the Burgos team, 18-14. The four members of the Soria Basketball Club are part of the CSB Caja Rural de Soria junior team and have debuted this season in the First Division with Transler. Most of the rivals they faced in Burgos compete in the First Division Men’s Junior Regional Championship and some of them have experience in Spanish Championships in the different categories. The CSB fell 21-16 against a Real Valladolid Violeta that would lose in the semifinals with Tormes A. The SPB Soto y Alonso got rid of the other Real Valladolid team. This has been the first campaign in which the CSB has participated with a men’s team in the Castilla y León 3×3 U-17 Championship.
