Could Paul George Be the Missing Piece for the Lakers to Contend Again?

Following their elimination in the first round of the playoffs, Lakers managers are racking their brains about the operations to be carried out in order to improve the squad. A veteran of the league then proposed the recruitment of a superstar whose game would be a perfect fit with that of Anthony Davis.

Yet considered at the start of the 2023-2024 season as potential favorites for the title, the Lakers have had a string of ups and downs. Despite a significant victory at the In-Season Tournament, this inconsistency prevented them from achieving their end-of-year objectives. Opposed to the Nuggets in the first round after finishing 7th in the West, the Californians were sharply eliminated (1-4).

However, leaders now have a lot of time to make decisions that will improve the collective. The first choice was to part ways with Darvin Ham to find a replacement and the next seems to be to offer the services of a third superstar to accompany LeBron James et Anthony Davis. To this end, Kenyon Martin looked into the issue in the podcast Gil’s Arena.

Which superstar to accompany Anthony Davis and LeBron to the Lakers?

This has been going on for six years with two guys who are old, it’s not going to work. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, it’s been six years now. What can we deduce from their association? They went to the Clippers together. They made the decision, one wanted the other to go there. PG was in Oklahoma City minding business. Then it didn’t work.

Samir Nasri (36 years old) cash on his evening at Kevin Durant’s in LA: “I arrive, he was…

When you’re home, okay, it’s cool. You’re from Los Angeles, okay, but on the ground it didn’t work out for one reason or another. Whether it was due to injuries or timing, it just didn’t work out. If I’m Paul, I’m looking to leave. I’m staying in LA, but I’m looking for a different situation. He should join the Lakers, it’s a better fit for Anthony Davis because of the way he plays.

He’s a pass-oriented player, you have the same guy playing point guard – an older guy, who’s a passer. LeBron will give him the ball, he can rely on Paul. Paul can do what he has to do and average 26 points.

What if Paul George finally realized his childhood dream by playing for the Lakers, he who grew up supporting this team?

Under contract with the Voiliers until 2025, the latter has made it known on several occasions that his objective to date is to put the Clippers at the forefront by winning a historic first ring with the franchise. However, according to Kenyon Martin, PG13 would find more happiness wearing the Purple & Gold tunic, in particular because of the compatibility of his game with that of Anthony Davis.

While the Lakers are in full reflection on the operations to be carried out for next season, Kenyon Martin wanted to give them some advice. According to the retiree, the recruitment of Paul George would be a great solution, because he would be perfectly complementary with Anthony Davis.
