As the Skyliners announced on Thursday, Wucherer will forego an exit clause in his contract and will continue to manage the Skyliners in the Bundesliga. Until recently, Wucherer did not want to make a clear commitment to his future.

The club management and coach then met for “detailed and constructive discussions,” as the club’s statement states. Now the doubts seem to have been dispelled. “My gut feeling tells me that my job here is not finished yet, that much more is possible here. We discussed this internally and came to the conclusion that we should use the momentum of the promotion to make basketball in Frankfurt fit for the future,” says Wucherer.

Immediately after the emotional rise, which the Hessians had only made clear with a furious victory in the decisive fifth semi-final match against Gladiators Trier, Wucherer still sounded strangely distant: that Frankfurt must be made into a place where people enjoy playing and working.
