Departmental Judo Open Draws Large Crowd to Rural Home

So many people at the rural home last Sunday. The judo club organized the departmental judo open, with the presence of three neighboring clubs from Haute-Garonne. The benjamins, minis, chicks and mini-chicks judokas came in large numbers, accompanied by their parents.

This meeting which brought together 280 judokas was the occasion for the presentation of kimonos for the teachers, offered by the departmental council including Raymond Berdou, vice-president in charge of culture, youth, sports and citizenship, was the spokesperson, in the presence of Jocelyn Degeilh, president of the Departmental Judo Committee, and Lydia Blandinières, deputy mayor at the town hall.

In this Olympic year, the departmental council, labeled “Terres de Jeux”, continues to implement actions linked to this event. The department preferred to step back from the passage of the Olympic flame, the financial cost of which was too high, to transfer its credits to the provision of flocked equipment “Ariège, Terre de sport 2024”, in favor of departmental sports clubs.

This Sunday, it was the turn of the judo teachers to be spoiled by receiving beautiful “Champion” kimonos.

Twelve judo clubs and 12 Ariège sports schools are affiliated with this committee, which has a total of 1,204 members. The Lézat club has 129 licensees and ranks 4th in the department. He is making excellent progress, as Jocelyn Degeilh points out. Throughout the day, the judokas fought according to their level and some left with a medal around their neck.
