The main favorites of the tournament, Graudiņa/Samoilova, defeated the USA duet Diana Kraft/Lexie Denaburg, who overcame the qualification, with 2:1 (21:15, 20:22, 15:11) in the first group game, and in the next match with 2:0 (21:11, 21 :16) won from Lithuania’s Monika Paulikieni/Aina Raupelitis.
On Thursday, May 30, Marta Wilder/Kitija Martini-Adamson, Aleksandrs and Mihails Samoilov, as well as Toms Liepa/Ernest Puskundzis lost in the first qualifying round.
The winners of the tournament will be announced in the finals on Sunday, June 2.
In the Tour, the Challenge series tournaments are the second highest level after the Elite 16 competitions, where the strongest participants take part.
In the beach volleyball tour, the participants accumulate points in the qualification ranking for the Olympic Games until June 9, where Graudiņa and Samoilova are high enough to be sure of going to Paris. 17 pairs of the Olympic Games tournament for both women and men will be determined by place.
