Germany wants to host the Women’s World Cup with Belgium and the Netherlands in 2027. The last competitor may be ahead. That’s why the DFB boss has an unusual request.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf is leaving no stone unturned to win the host role for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

In his video greeting on the occasion of the German Football Association’s contract extension with general sponsor VW, the head of the association from Thailand formally asked the audience in the automobile company’s event location in Berlin for psychic support.

“Finally, I have one request for everyone back home. I am here in Bangkok because we are fighting together with our friends from Belgium and the Netherlands to host the Women’s World Cup in 2027. The day after tomorrow, Friday, the congress will be here “Feel free to send us your positive energy. That certainly can’t hurt,” said the 62-year-old.

Because of the vote at the FIFA Congress, Neuendorf missed the announcement of the contract extension with VW and was also missing from the official nomination of the European Championship squad by national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The only opponent of the European trio for the women’s soccer world tournament in three years is Brazil. The South Americans go into the vote as slight favorites. Nevertheless, the DFB President spread optimism. “We are convinced that we have presented a top offer. Together we will give everything for girls’ and women’s football in Germany and Europe until the final vote,” said Neuendorf in the recorded video clip.
