French team: Mike Maignan will join the Blues on Wednesday at Clairefontaine

This time, no setbacks are expected. Hit in a finger Thursday during training with AC Milan, goalkeeper Mike Maignan will join his teammates from the start of the French team’s preparation for Euro 2024, Wednesday May 29 in Clairefontaine. As we indicated to you on Thursday, his injury does not cause great concern and does not prevent him from appearing in the group. Preserved this weekend against Salernitana (3-3), Maignan has not played for a month.

With this arrival at the start of the rally, the goalkeeper trained at PSG will therefore miss his team’s promotional tour in Australia, for a friendly match against AS Roma on May 31 in Perth. This exemption, from which the other Milanese Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez do not benefit, should satisfy Didier Deschamps. When the list was announced on May 16, the coach was annoyed by this trip to the other side of the world.

“Five days, twenty-four hours of travel in one direction, twenty-four hours in the other…”, the coach had railed, before asserting that the three Milanese would certainly be spared for the first friendly against Luxembourg, the June 5 in Metz. Maignan can therefore apply, barring a relapse between now and then, to prepare for his first major tournament as number 1.
