German Police Championships 2021: Federal Police Takes First Place in Country Ranking

As every year, the result of the country ranking is an extremely interesting matter and was eagerly awaited.

After evaluating the points to be awarded, the Federal Police came in first place again, just ahead of North Rhine-Westphalia, as it did in Mainz in 2018.

Here are the detailed results:

  • Federal Police
  • North Rhine-Westphalia
  • Bayern
  • Lower Saxony
  • Saxony
  • Baden-Wurttemberg
  • Summary

“From my point of view as DPSK specialist, this DPM Judo in Hanover was a sporting treat for the judoka as well as for the many guests of honour and interested parties,” says Johannes Daxbacher.

Among the guests of honor were numerous top judoka, including Olympic medalists Klaus Glahn (bronze in Tokyo 1964, silver in Munich 1972), Sven Loll (silver 1988 Seoul), Dimitri Peters (bronze 2012 London) as well as vice world champion Giovanna Scoccimarro and Sebastian Seidl (both team bronze 2021 in Tokyo), to name just a few of the judo greats in attendance.

“These championships were once again an advertisement for judo among the police, the fights showed a very high technical and combative level and the great fairness was once again exemplary at this DPM Judo,” says Daxbacher.

“I am particularly pleased that the team competitions have been so well received. Pure excitement, team spirit and fair congratulations after the country duels – great judo sport for the German police and it is now impossible to imagine life without it.”

The cooperation between the DPSK and the DJB has once again proven to be a great benefit at this DPM. Judo and police values such as respect, perseverance, courage, seriousness and also friendship were shown here on and off the mat as a matter of course and demonstrated the great family character in the connection “Police and Judo” or “Judo for the Police”. “Many thanks to the Lower Saxony Judo Association, the NJV President Egbert von Horn and his entire judo team including the Hanover Police Sports Club for their uncomplicated support,” said Johannes Daxbacher, thanking the organizing team from Lower Saxony.

And then it got a little emotional at the end. “Thank you very much – all of you, the organization team, the judoka, the experts, officials and guests of honor gave me an unforgettable gift at my last DPM Judo! Thank you very much to the experts and trainers who said goodbye to me so kindly from the large circle of experts and thank you for the big and long applause at the end of this DPM Judo. Domo arigato!”, Johannes gives his personal thanks to his colleagues and judoka.
