Huelva to be represented by two badminton athletes at Paris 2024 Olympics

In the absence of confirming the presence of several people from Huelva in other sports disciplines, Huelva can already boast of having two athletes in the next Olympic Games in the form of badminton. Paris 2024 will feature the best European volantista in history, Carolina Marín, who has now definitively forgotten her serious injury with great results this year and dreams of, why not, another Olympic gold.

Currently, the player from Huelva is in third position in the World ranking and has just won the European Championship again for the seventh time she has done so.

Also at the Olympic event will be Pablo Abián, an adopted Huelva native who, despite being born in the Aragonese municipality of Calatayud, will carry Huelva as his flag due to his clear connection with the city as he is a IES La Orden player and is constantly collaboration and sponsorship with the Andalusian Badminton Federation.

Pablo Abián, the best Spanish volantista in history, will close his sporting career with the fifth Olympic Games in which he participates and arrives after once again being a key player in the achievement of the IES La Orden league title.

The triple world champion was unable to defend her Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 due to serious knee injuries that have kept her away for several seasons. Marín will arrive in Paris 2024 after recently receiving the prestigious distinction of the Princess of Asturias Sports Award.

2. Pablo Abian will make history by participating in the Olympic Games for the fifth time. The best midfielder in the country in its entire history, being 68th in the world ranking and being the best Spaniard. Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, Tokyo 2020 and now, Paris 2024.
