A great result for the athletes Federico Mainolfi and Cecilia Medda at the Inline Freestyle International World Skate Trophy in Porto San Giorgio, the Marca Beach Battle; a two-day event of the highest level which last weekend saw 60 athletes competing in two disciplines, the Speed Slalom, a slalom speed race between twenty cones on one foot, and the Battle, a duel between two skaters who compete with each other by force of technical skills, in time. Mainolfi won the gold medal in the Battle (junior man category) while Medda won the silver in the Battle and the bronze in the Speed (senior woman category).
The Marca Beach Battle is in its first edition and the level of competition is very high because, being part of the World Skate circuit, the age groups are much wider and the level of competition much more competitive. The difficulty is also due to the presence of international judges from World Skate, the international reference body for all roller sports which supports their global growth, development and inclusiveness.
Other young athletes from Skating Riccione also participated in the Marca Beach Battle in the Junior woman category: Agata Antonelli (4th in the battle and 6th in the speed), Nicole Perrone (14th in the speed), Asia Iannarone (17th in the battle) and Federica Cutugno (25th in the battle). The international trophy is the third stage of the 2024 competitive season and is one of the important testing grounds for athletes in view of the Italian championships which will be held in July in Sicily, in Catania.
