Media: Stöckl no longer Norway’s head coach

Alexander Stöckl’s term as head coach of the Norwegian ski jumpers has come to an end after 13 years. According to consistent media reports, the 50-year-old Tyrolean agreed with the national association to end his contract early. Stöckl had been in conflict with the association for several months, which was sparked, among other things, by an open letter of complaint from the jumpers about his leadership style.

Under Stöckl, the Norwegians around Halvor Egner Granerud have celebrated many successes since 2011 and have won several Olympic and World Championship medals as well as numerous World Cup victories. Recently, however, the really big successes have failed to materialize, and the Norwegians came away empty-handed at this year’s Ski Flying World Championships on the Kulm.
