Paris 2024 Olympics: the 3×3 basketball Blues qualified for the Games

These Blues never give up! As in its quarter-final against Germany (19-17 victory), earlier in the day, the French 3×3 basketball team turned the match around in the final moments to overcome Mongolia (21 -20). Thanks to this success in Debrecen (Hungary), she qualified for the next Olympic Games in Paris.

Vergiat, the man for the job

Like the scenario of the previous round, Karim Souchu’s players raced behind a large part of the match. Before Timothé Vergiat’s winning shot which gave his team victory, France never led during the match, even being up to four points behind. Finally, the 25-year-old allowed the Blues to emerge victorious thanks to two long-distance shots (in the quarter, it was Jules Rambaut who scored the winning shot). After a final check by the referee on the validity of the second attempt, the Tricolores were able to exult and celebrate their qualification for the Olympics at home. They thus joined their counterparts from the French women’s team who qualified thanks to their world ranking.
