PSV club management in contact with Memphis Depay; new attempt plausible

The chance that PSV will try again to bring back Memphis Depay next summer is plausible, writes journalist Marco Timmer of Voetbal International in an extensive analysis of the Eindhoven team. As is known, thirty-year-old Memphis will leave Atlético Madrid on a free transfer.
Timmer notices that Memphis’ name is buzzing around Eindhoven. “It is logical that his name is associated with PSV. Not only does the thirty-year-old Dutch striker have a successful past in Eindhoven, the PSV club management is actually always in contact with Depay.” According to the journalist, Memphis’ transfer-free status will only increase the rumors.
“Last season, Marcel Brands asked the attacker how he felt about returning to PSV, but that came too early for Depay. It is likely that the club management will now try again,” said Timmer.
This season, Memphis played 1,202 minutes, spread over 31 appearances. He scored nine goals and two assists. Atlético Madrid has now accepted that he will not yield a transfer fee and his departure will mainly make room in the salary budget
According to Transfermarkt, Memphis is still worth 12 million euros, but clubs can add the ninety-time international of the Dutch team to their selection on a free transfer. It is currently unknown whether Memphis is open to a return to the Netherlands.
Memphis will add a new club to its resume after the European Championship with the Netherlands. The Dutch star player broke through at PSV, only to fail in the red of Manchester United.
