Warren Zaire-Emery is one of the nuggets formed by Paris SG.

Barcelona, Benfica and the Paris Saint-Germain dominate the ranking of the best training centers in the world by market value, according to a study by the Transfermarkt platform. The FC Barcelona training center, also called La Masia, tops the ranking, with a cumulative market value of its trained players of 3.48 billion euros. Benfica follows closely with €3.06 billion, while PSG ranks fifth with €2.26 billion.

With Yamal, Gbi or other Pedri, Barça refers

To establish this ranking, Transfermarkt added up the market values of all players trained in each club, counting those who played in at least one youth team (U23 included). This method makes it possible to take into account all the talents from a training center, even if they have not played in the club’s first team.

Among the players trained at La Masia and who contribute to its high market value, we find gems from the current squad like Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsí, but also other talents who shine elsewhere in Europe, such as as Takefusa Kubo, Dani Olmo, Alejandro Grimaldo and André Onana.

PSG in the top 5 with Zaire-Emery and Kimpembe among others

PSG, for its part, relies less on its training center for its first team. Among the 24 most highly valued players from the Parisian academy, only Warren Zaire-Emery and Presnel Kimpembe are currently playing at the club. Other big names like Christopher Nkunku and Kingsley Coman have left the capital to flourish elsewhere.

OL, AS Monaco and Stade Rennais complete the top 23

Despite the predominance of Barça and Benfica, three French clubs appear in the top 23 of this ranking: Olympique Lyonnais (20th), AS Monaco (21st) and Stade Rennais (23rd). These training centers have been able to export promising talents like Kylian Mbappé (ASM), Eduardo Camavinga (SRFC) and Bradley Barcola and Castello Lukeba (OL).

This ranking, while it highlights the quality of the training of young players in certain clubs, does not constitute an absolute indicator of the success of a training center. Other factors, such as the number of developed players who manage to establish themselves in the first team or the positive impact they have on their club’s game, must also be taken into account for a comprehensive assessment.

Nevertheless, this study offers an interesting insight into the capacity of training centers to generate high market value talent, and helps to highlight the current dominance of La Masia and Benfica in this area.
