For the U13 age group, the North Rhine Individual Championships are the highest qualification level in judo. This is where the winners of the two largest districts, Düsseldorf and Cologne, meet. The most recent competition was hosted by the Velbert Judo Club, and the juniors from the Wermelskirchen Judo Club (JC) also took part. Although the club was only represented at the North Rhine Championships with a small squad of five young fighters, it was able to achieve some success: one gold, two silver and one bronze medal traveled back to Wermelskirchen after the tournament.
