The Finistère Championship: Exciting Badminton Action in Saint-Renan This Weekend

Finistère Championship, this weekend in Saint-Renan

On the program, from Saturday morning, the singles and mixed will compete until the semi-finals included in the Trévisquin and Guyader rooms. On Sunday, only in Trévisquin, the doubles and the singles and mixed final phases will begin. This competition, which will a priori decorate around forty champions from Finistère (depending on the levels), nevertheless deplores a lack of popularity among women. Indeed, the sixty entrants do not allow the organizers to build a competitive field, particularly due to the significant differences in level. There will therefore be no Finistère women’s singles champion this year.

Thomas Jourdren favorite

Not enough to spoil the party though since on the men’s side, four bad players from Nationale 2 are involved. Among them, Thomas Jourdren (Trégunc Badminton Cub) will act as favorite for the singles title. He will also be entered in doubles alongside David Prigent (Patronage Laïque Relecq-Kerhuon) and in mixed with Cindy Dréo (Trégunc Badminton Club, level N3, N2 in mixed). Mickaël Le Marchand, president of the Bad’Iroise Saint-Renan club, is delighted with a strong performance among the men, with the presence of players playing in the National (Hugo Gilbert, Fabien Le Millier, Eliott Lieutier, Alban Le Cam, Maxime Naour) who will do everything to try to surprise the favorite.
