Oldenburg – Two game days before the end of the main round in the Basketball Bundesliga, a lot is still possible both in the fight for the playoff places and in the race for the play-in ranks, the preliminary qualification for the championship round. Right in the middle are the two northwest clubs EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Rasta Vechta. The relegation battle is also exciting – an overview.

The top of the table
Leaders Bayern Munich (26:5 wins) will most likely secure the main round championship and start the playoff quarter-finals as first in the table. Coach Pablo Laso’s top team is currently two wins ahead of Alba Berlin (24:7) and third-place Niners Chemnitz (24:8). Munich and Berlin also have one more game to play. Due to the Euroleague season, both clubs will make up for their match from matchday 10 this Friday. Munich clearly won the first duel on Sunday with 77:53. The capital club would have to win with 25 or more points in order to win the direct comparison. If Bayern win against the giants Ludwigsburg this Wednesday (8 p.m.) and Berlin loses to Baskets Bonn at the same time, the Munich team will be the main round winners. Chemnitz can still push Berlin out of second place. To do this, the Saxons have to get more wins in their two remaining games than Alba did in their three games. The Niners lost the direct comparison against Berlin.
The playoff places
Behind them are the Würzburg Baskets (4th place, 23:9), RP Ulm (5th, 22:10) and Vechta (6th, 20:12). Mathematically, Würzburg and Ulm can still move up to second place. In the worst case scenario, Würzburg falls back to fifth place, Ulm to sixth place. Meanwhile, Vechta would secure playoff participation with a win this Thursday (3:30 p.m.) at Bamberg Baskets. Their pursuer Bonn could still catch up, but the direct comparison goes to Rasta. The newcomer from Oldenburger Münsterland could, mathematically, climb to fifth place. In addition, both Bonn (7th, 19:13) and Ludwigsburg (8th, 18:14) still have a chance of sixth place and thus direct participation in the playoffs – assuming Vechta loses the last two games.

The last word has not yet been spoken in the fight for the qualification places. Bonn can also slip to eighth place, Ludwigsburg to ninth place.
